Since our founding in July 2008, CarbonfreeDC has focused on empowering the DC Metro community to take dramatic "next steps" in reducing carbon emissions. We connect you with the local experts and resources on practical options like renewable energy, energy efficiency, carbon-friendly commuting and effective recycling.

Local Focus

From Arlington to Anacostia, find local solutions already available to further reduce your carbon emissions. While many DC area organizations are combating climate change at a national or international level,  the actions we can take in our own homes, neighborhoods and workplaces are too often overlooked. CarbonfreeDC offers an in-person support network that has knowledge of local resources you need to work toward a carbon-free DC.

Workshops

About once a month we host a workshop by a local experts that break down challenging changes into practical steps. With plenty of Q&A time and workshop resource guides, you'll know how to hit the ground running the very next day.

Low Carbon Diet Program

The CarbonfreeDC Low Carbon Diet Program will help you lose 5000 pounds (of CO2) in 30 days! In the program, which meets 4 times over 2 months, you'll join a small group of other locals and discover together how to reduce carbon emissions in your home and lifestyle. Learn more and sign up!
