All About GreenDMV's Green Job Corps 09/02/2009

To carry out the Extreme Green Neighborhood Makeover, we will be working with many partners from the community. Meet GreenDMV, one of our main organizational partners.

GreenDMV is a non-profit organization seeking to promote sustainability as a pathway out of poverty in low-income communities across America. One way GreenDMV does this is through their green job training program - The Green Job Corps.

We are proud to announce that the first graduating class of this program will be helping us with the Extreme Green Neighborhood Makeover as their first green job assignment!

The Green Job Corps training program transitions blue collar workers to green ones, provides green career ladders for youth, helps reduce carbon emissions and promotes the Greater Washington area’s position as a leader in green economic development through a highly-skilled green workforce.

For the Extreme Green Neighborhood Makeover, Green Job Corps graduates will help weatherize homes, install programmable thermostats, replace plumbing fixtures and more.

We at CarbonfreeDC are delighted to have the opportunity to partner with GreenDMV and participate in the great training program. Welcome aboard!
